Our Present Times

I already had written a message to share with you, but the Holy Spirit led me to change direction, considering the events presently occurring. In the short period of less than a month the entire world has been turned upside down as the coronavirus has spread from a small city in China across the entire planet. The disease is not only making people ill and causing death, it is also creating mass fear and anxiety, Entire countries are being quarantined, sports events, conventions and even church services are being cancelled. Financial markets are tumbling, and fortunes are being lost. People are anxious over their retirement plans.

As bad as things are, they pale in comparison to future events that will occur during the coming tribulation period. Try to imagine how much people will suffer and seek someone to lead them through their present calamity. Our present situation makes it easier to grasp the idea that people will willingly accept the mark of the beast. With the coronavirus spread, people are pancaking because they can’t find toilet paper in the grocery stores. The media and internet certainly are helping to spread anxiety.

Let me remind you of some biblical promises that I hope will help relieve any anxiety and frustration you may be experiencing,

Philippians 4:6-7 – Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

1 Peter 5:7 – Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Matthew 6:25-34 – Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

Hebrews 13:6 – So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”

Psalm 55:22 – Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.

I believe it is important to fully comprehend that the coronavirus did not catch God by surprise, He knew about it before He laid the foundations of the world. He still is on His throne and in charge. He did not promise things like the coronavirus would not happen but as the Psalmist wrote in Psalm 46 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble”. As people often say, this too will pass but God’s love for us is eternal.

God gave a message to the prophet Jeremiah that also applies to us today “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
In this present time, we have no need to be anxious, Our God Still Reigns.
